What this actually is
Digital transformation is a phrase that has been used to sell almost anything, so it is worth being concrete: it means removing manual steps, making systems exchange data without a person retyping it, and putting current information in front of the people who decide things.
It goes wrong in a predictable way. A multi-year programme is defined, value arrives only at the end, the assumptions age, sponsorship changes, and it is quietly wound down. The alternative is sequencing it so each phase pays for the next — which is less impressive as a strategy document and considerably more likely to finish.

When this is the wrong answer
If leadership is not prepared to change how work is done, this becomes an expensive way to digitise a bad process. The technology is rarely the constraint.
Programmes that deliver value only at the end usually deliver none. If the phases cannot each stand alone, the sequencing is wrong.
"Transformation" that nobody in the operation asked for tends to be reversed the moment attention moves elsewhere. The people doing the work should be able to name the problem being solved.
Some legacy systems should be left alone. Replacing something stable and paid-for, because it is old, is a common and avoidable waste.

Where should we start?
With whatever is measurably costing the most time and is contained enough to change without touching everything else. That is usually not the most visible problem, which is why the assessment is worth doing before committing a budget.
How do we know it worked?
Baselines are measured before anything changes — cycle time, error rate, manual touches — and the same numbers are measured after. Without a baseline, every outcome can be described as a success.
Do we have to replace our existing systems?
Usually not. Most of the value comes from making current systems exchange data properly. Replacement is a decision of last resort, not a starting assumption.
Who owns the code?
You do, from the first commit — work happens in your repository under your licence, and the contract assigns IP outright. We keep no rights and build no dependency that makes leaving expensive.
What does it cost?
We do not publish a number, because the honest one depends on scope, integrations and the accuracy bar. Tell us the budget you are working with and we will say what it buys — or say plainly if it does not buy enough.

Can our team take it over afterwards?
That is the intended end state. Standard technology, decisions documented as they are made, and handover sessions with your engineers. If a system can only be maintained by us, we built it wrong.
